The Bendigo Emergency Relief Centre is used as a short-term response to an emergency. The City of Greater Bendigo can set the centre up in response to a particular emergency, in consultation with Victoria Police and emergency management staff, the Country Fire Authority and the Victoria State Emergency Service.
Services include:
- provision of first aid
- community information sessions for people who are gathered at the centre in the case of an emergency
- provision of food
- provision of essential supplies such as clothes and blankets
- emergency shelter/accommodation
- personal support
- provision for pets
- a recreation area
- showering and toileting facilities.
The Access Key provides comprehensive information on accessing the centre in both full-colour with photographs and large-print text-only versions.
A Social Story is available, while a communication board aids individuals with communication barriers or non-English speakers.
